U-Haul vs. FreightRun.com: Weighing the Costs
If you’re willing to handle the packing, loading, unloading, and driving yourself, U-Haul is likely the most budget-friendly choice. However, it’s important to consider the full cost of this option. While not all of these factors will apply to everyone, here are some potential downsides:
Your Time – The hours spent driving could be time used for work or other money-saving activities.
Physical Strain – Loading, unloading, and driving long distances can take a toll on your body. Consider the possibility of needing recovery time—or even physical therapy—after the trip.
Travel Expenses – Food and lodging on the road add up, especially for longer trips.
Health Considerations – Limited meal options while traveling may mean settling for less-than-ideal nutrition.
Balancing cost savings with convenience and physical well-being is key. If a more hands-off approach appeals to you, FreightRun.com might be worth considering.
FreightRun.com and Easy Self Storage: A Smarter Moving Solution
Looking for a streamlined moving and storage solution? FreightRun.com and Easy Self Storage offer a flexible approach—while there’s still a do-it-yourself element, their team can make the process far more efficient.
Packing Like a Pro
To ensure your belongings are well-protected, follow these steps:
Pack all items securely in boxes.
Place boxes and small furniture onto skids.
Wrap everything with scrap cardboard and shrink wrap generously—a complete cocoon of plastic ensures your items stay safe, even if exposed to rain.
You can assemble your pallets outside your home or in your garage. Just keep in mind that a truck must be able to get close for pickup, or you’ll need a pallet jack to wheel them out.
Loading & Transport
If packing isn't your thing, hiring extra help is an option. Get a team of strong local movers to load the truck provided by FreightRun. A pallet jack may come in handy unless your team is prepared to lift the pallets manually.
For even more convenience, FreightRun can arrange transportation of your wrapped skids to a local warehouse. From there, they’ll hire a direct truck to move your freight to its final destination—whether that’s self-storage, your home, or even an overseas location.
Coordinating Storage & Delivery
FreightRun can coordinate directly with the Self Storage facility to deliver your freight. Need flexibility? They can also divide your shipment—part going to storage, and part heading straight to your new apartment or home.
